The Numbers don't lie

Stat reporting for going Human Trafficking rates

There are tell-tale signs that a hotel or other establishment is being used for sexual exploitation, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

But those tell-tale signs don’t matter if hotels and motels ignore what’s happening on their premises. This willful blindness is the result of valuing profit over human lives. Sex traffickers and “pimps” understand that the ability to pay in cash keeps them anonymous and the lack of over-sight keeps their actions well-hidden.

Companies that knowingly make money off the suffering and exploitation of victims, when they could have reported the crime, should be held accountable.

Officials say cases of sex trafficking have been on the rise since 2012 and hotels and motels are critical sites for this criminal activity. The ability to rent rooms for short periods of time and to have a degree of anonymity make them attractive to human traffickers.
