The bar date for submission of claims has been set for November 16, 2020.
BSA’s internal investigation provided some idea of the magnitude of the tragedy:
7,819 adult Scout leaders had their registration with BSA revoked because of credible allegations of child sexual abuse.Investigation found 12,254 boys and young men were abused.
Our experience leads us to conclude that the investigation only revealed a fraction of the predator scout leaders and scouting survivors.
A different world: Bankruptcy filing causes automatic stays. All related cases are transferred and consolidated into the bankruptcy.
Survivors seeking compensation for damages for abuse and coverup by BSA can file creditor claims in the bankruptcy. In the BSA bankruptcy, the survivors’ claims make up most of the unsecured claims pool.
Anne Andrews and Adam Slater have recently cofounded an ad hoc committee of survivors, The Coalition of Abused Scouts for Justice.
