The Numbers don't lie

Live up to date stat reporting for going Vaping rates (May 1 - May 31, 2020)

New numbers are out on those sickened or killed by vaping-related illnesses.

CDC issues new warnings on vaping:
“As of October 1, 2019, 1,080 confirmed and probable lung injury cases associated with e-cigarette product use, or vaping, were reported by 48 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The increase of 275 cases since last week is a combination of new patients becoming ill in the past two weeks and recent reporting of previously-identified patients.”

Current research has found that vaping may cause serious health risks. Due to chemical exposure, a rapidly growing number of people are experiencing severe side effects:

  • Respiratory and lung illnesses
  • Cardiovascular issues
  • Seizures
  • Stroke
  • Death
  • Worsening of existing conditions (e.g., asthma)

Manufacturers of e-cigarette devices market them as a safe alternative to cigarettes.  According to Dr. Robert Jackler, a physician and professor at Stanford University, children and teenagers have been specifically targeted in marketing campaigns by e-cigarette manufacturers, increasing their risk of suffering these serious side effects.  As a result, device manufacturers are under legal scrutiny, and individuals are beginning to file lawsuits seeking to hold them responsible for failing to warn users about these health risks.
